FAQs – Frequently asked questions

Hand-knotted carpets Vs. Hand-Tufted Vs. Machine-Made ?

  • Hand knotted rugs make use of a traditional hand knotting technique on a specially designed loom. Where every knot is woven consciously by its weaver as though giving each rug its unique story. With subtle differences, no two hand-knotted rugs are similar and are often an extension of its weavers personalities. A hand-knotted rug is more resilient, durable, and vastly superior in quality.
  • Hand-Tufted rugs are made partially by hand and partially by a mechanized tool. This type of a rug is made from wool, where strands of wool are punched into a blank canvas made of cloth by a hand operated tool. They tend to be budget friendly with a max durability of 2 years.
  • Machine made rugs are made on electrical powered looms automated and controlled by computers. Such types of rugs are mass produced and predominantly made from synthetic materials, such as polyester, nylon, and polypropylene. They tend to advocate a use and throw economy.
  • We at The Drugget & Parquetry Co believe in quality and durable products. Hence, we produce Hand-knotted and Hand-Tufted weaves, only.

Things to do once you receive and unbox your rug?

Rugs larger than 6ft will be delivered in a box instead of the traditional rolled delivery –

  1. Take out the carpet and spread it into an open area.
  2. Then roll it up in a cylindrical shape from any side as neat and thin as possible.
  3. Once rolled, stand on it for a couple of minutes on every square footage of the rolled carpet.
  4. Open your carpet, any creases due to folding the carpet will disappear.
  5. However, if a few carpet creases still appear just rub the wool in that area gently or hit it as if you were dusting that area.
  6. If the creases still don’t disappear, as the rug is made of wool & silk and has travelled a long way to be with you,  give it a few days and it should be just fine.
  7. Enjoy your beautiful ‘The Drugget & Parquetry Co’ rug.
